- 今回は計画、実行、評価、改善を繰り返す過程の英語表現を解説します。

PDCAサイクルとは
PDCAサイクルとは、何でしょう？
「計画を立てる⇒業務を実行する⇒結果を評価する⇒改善する⇒また計画に戻る」過程です。
意識せずとも、仕事を行ううえで多くの人が自然に行うプロセスです。
この過程に沿って仕事を進めることを「PDCAを回す」といいます。
実際に行動を起こして、効果を検証して再チャレンジする4段階を意識します。
すると、業務が明確になり、効率性の改善が期待できます。
ウォルター・シューハートとエドワース・デミングという人が提唱しました。
その表現を学ぶ意義
今回は、PDCAを表現する英語を例文で示します。ビジネスの活動で頻出する言い回しです。
TOEICのレベルで700ぐらいの語彙を集めました。

計画（Plan）
plan
We are making a plan for the new bridge.
訳 私たちは新しい橋の計画を立てています。
There may be a slight change of plan.
訳 少し計画の変更があるかもしれない。

ahead of schedule
May I ask you to ship ahead of schedule?
訳 予定より早く発送してもらえますか？
「予定より遅れて」は behind schedule 。
実行（Do）
act
As long as the motivation is there, don’t hesitate to act.
訳 やる気がある限り、ためらわずに行動を起こそう。
carry out
Carry out your plan immediately or you can’t achieve a goal.
訳 計画をすぐに実行しないと、目標を達成できません。
put into practice
Now is the time to put that into practice.
訳 今こそ、それを実行に移す時です。
put in action も「実行に移す」の意味。
make efforts
Keep making efforts and go through difficulties at any cost.
訳 努力を積み重ね、どんな犠牲を払っても困難を乗り越えなさい。
continue
He patiently continued to study in order to develop the new medicine.
訳 彼は新薬を開発するため、辛抱強く研究を続けた。
under construction
The city hall is now under construction.
訳 市役所は現在建設中です。
complete
We worked together on this task and almost completed it.
訳 我々はこの仕事に関して協力し、ほぼ完了しました。

評価（Check）
check
He checked the result by comparing the two groups.

realize
As we went with this plan, we realized more money is needed.
訳 この計画を進めていくにつれ、もっとお金が必要であることがわかった。

It is clear that the plan contains wasteful elements.

訳 進捗状況を教えてください。

改善（Action）
change

revise
Please send me the revised version by Friday.
訳 金曜日までに改訂版を送ってください。
a better way
He showed me a better way to accelerate the production.
訳 彼は生産を速めるよりよい方法を私に示した。
take measures
We had to take measures to prevent such troubles.
訳 私たちはそのようなトラブルを防ぐために、対策を講じなければならなかった。
take steps も「対策を施す」の意味で使えます。
adjust one’s plans
To meet customer’s needs, we had to adjust our plans over again.
訳 お客様のニーズを満たすために、私たちは何度も計画を調整しなければならなかった。
reconsider the plan
The results say that we have no choice but to reconsider the plan.
訳 結果によれば、私たちは計画を見直すしかない。
the improvement plans
As the improvement plan, I want you all to find new customers.
訳 改善策として、私はあなたがた全員に新規顧客を見つけてほしい。
cut down
We must cut down on costs because of the lack of a workforce.
訳 人手不足なため、コストを省かなければなりません。
replace
We should find a damaged part and replace it with another.
